I NEVER RECEIVED THE CD

I just got the book, but there are no CDs
the description states ""The accompanying audio CDs include audio exercises--performed by native speakers--that reinforce communicative skills.""

Now I Have to spend money elsewhere to get what is owed to me.

Easy to follow

I choosed rating 4/5 stars as I find the book very handy and easy to follow. I got 2 books, one for me and the other for my hubby.

The only thing I dislike is the "spelling" on pronounciation when a chinese language being transliterate into roman words. It is confusing. For example. xian, should be pronounce "chi-an" ... or so that is what the CD taught me. I understand that perhaps mandarin pronounciation are difficult to be spelt out into roman because of the pronounciation needs to take alot of practice on how to control your mouths and the different focus of your mouth has been empowered in other to produce "natural" sound.. Given the way these pronounciation spelt in this book, certainly does not help. Another example, "zhongguo"..(which means China) is not pronounce as how it is spelt. It is pronounce "Chong-guO" and not ZHOng-guo. or the word "Qing", in which you have to pronounce "Ching". It gets confusing when you read the book only without the listening to the CDs otherwise it is a perfect book for those who would like to learn how to speak mandarin.

I would totally recommend this book, nevertheless =) Although, I wished that the spelling on the pronounciation can be improved.

Great content, let down by Kindle format

The content, of course, is not at issue here - that this is an excellent text regarding wound management & reconstruction goes without saying.

The issue is the format: the Kindle edition proves remarkably cumbersome to navigate, as this format is really geared to sequentially working one's way through a book, as one would a novel. When it comes to looking for a specific item, life becomes difficult, as the Table of Contents is not clearly organised, and there doesn't seem to be any specific 'Search' field for looking something up. There is an Index, but this is simply a list of words, without associated page or location numbers.

Another problem is that the illustrations (a key part of any surgical text) are a little on the small side.

I should point out that I am accessing this work via Kindle software running on an 8 inch Android tablet. One's mileage may vary on another device (eg iPad or desktop PC, or an actual Kindle device).

I bought this here because it was one of two places I could find this book - period! The book was slightly lacking in detail and the layout isn't amazing. All-in-all, it's a good resource if you have some knowledge to go with it! Luckily my friend did several hours of online research before we attempted to swap the clutch in my Paseo! ;-)

The Book's Title Says it All

"Tunnel of Love" is a story about relationships. Family love, affectionate love, sexual love, maternal love, sibling love, and friendship are explored from the perspectives of two very different women. Linda is 28 years old, widowed after only six weeks of marriage to an older man who has a fifteen year-old daughter, Robin. In addition, she finds out she is also pregnant! She is determined to make the best out of life for herself and her new "instant family". Robin is a truculent, troubled, and in many ways, typical teenager. The story is told from her point of view, as well as Linda's. This makes for an interesting and realistic examination of the issues in the book. When baby Phoebe is born, we experience the wonder of learning to love a brand new person, from the view of a big sister and a new mom. I admired Linda's perserverance, optimism, and "never say die" attitude. It was in contrast to the anger and frustration I felt for Robin...which goes to show how good the writing in this book is. I am a 36 year old mother with a daughter approaching the teenage years; the author managed to convey the struggle and, ultimately, the love between mother and daughter. While the story doesn't exactly qualify as a page-turner, I truly enjoyed this book about the many ways love is expressed and experienced. Four stars is the highest rating I have yet given a book on Amazon.com.

The book review prior to this (by me--"The Title says it all") is for a different novel altogether! The one I reviewed is an out-of-print version by Hilma Worlitzer. Sorry!
