This volume describes the lineage of the Kuru princes. When Pandu, the father of the Pandavas, dies in the forest, his wife Kunti returns to Hastinapura with the five boys.
The great Dronacharya trains the Kuru princes in the art of war. The feats of strength preformed by Bheema, and Arjuna's skill at wielding the bow awake jealousy in the minds of Duryodhana and the other Kuru princes.
Duryodhana plots the exile of the Pandavas to the city of Varanavata. Acting on the coded warning given by Vidura, the Pandavas manage to escape from the burning house of shellac.
They live in the guise of mendicants at Ekachakrapura. Later they proceed to Panchala to attend the Swayamvara of Draupadi. Arjuna, the skilful archer, wins Draupadi's hand. In order to obey their mother's words that they must share everything equally, all the five brothers are married with due ceremony to Draupadi. The Pandavas are recalled to Hastinapura and are given half the Kingdom.

2. The Pandavas in Exile- Volume 1 described the training of the Pandavas and Kauravas, the Pandavas' escape from the burning house of shellac, their marriage to Draupadi and their subsequent return to Hastinapura.
In this volume are described the slaying of Jarasandha by Bheema; the subjugation of the other kings by the Pandavas; and the Rajasooya Yajna performed by Yudhishthira. Later, in the game of dice, the Pandavas lose their kingdom and live in exile.
At the end of the period of exile, when the Pandavas come back to claim their kingdom, Duryodhana refuses to part with even five villages.

3. On the Battlefield of Kurukshetra- The first two volumes of the Mahabharata described the growing animosity between the Kauravas and the Pandavas, the costly game of dice which led to the banishment of the Pandavas for thirteen years, the events during the exile and the proposal of peace from Dhritarashtra conveyed by Sanjaya to the Pandavas.
This volume describes the attempts of Krishna to bring about a peaceful settlement between the Kauravas and the Pandavas. They fail and a bitter war is fought for eighteen days. The Pandavas emerge victorious in the end.

Great Collector item

The delivery mode was quick. The customer support has been pretty good.
I had few blank pages (8 to be precise) in a particular chapter on the volume one. I was provided with PDF copies of the missing pages by the seller.
I would have expected better quality control from the publisher on an expensive collectors item.

Great Read even for non-Sales Managers

While I'm technically not in a true sales manager role, I still found this book to be an interesting read. Actually, I do manage a team of consultants, and there are several relevant points in the book that apply to all managing personnel regarding team-building and performance evaluations. While those topics are slanted for sales, I found some points credible for my own career and have already applied a few of them when working with my team. Of course, the sales aspects of this book are also interesting for me. In order to move up the ranks in my career, having sales skills is a necessity. I found some of the topics discussed to be relevant for my role today as well as hopefully in future roles.

Overall, I thought this was a great book to read. I think it is obvious that many of the items discussed in this book aren't necessarily followed by many sales organizations today (notably that used car dealer that you hate going to). If everyone read this book, then perhaps sales jobs would be a lot more bearable and satisfying. If your employees are satisfied, then perhaps your customers could be more satisfied too.

Worthwhile Read for Sales Leaders

As a very experienced Sales leader, I wanted to check this book out. I am a big believer that one can learn new ideas and tips from other sources that can be utilized as part of your daily leadership routines. This book is an example of where I was able to find a couple of concepts that I was familiar with, but had veered away from over the years. I also picked up a couple of other thoughts and am able to run with those as well.

This book is definitely a helpful tool, but unlike other editions of the "_______ for Dummies" series I don't think a new manager will read this book and suddenly be an exceptional leader. That takes time and real world experience. However this edition will put a person on the right path with some solid ideas and basic concepts that offer a roadmap of success.

Mia and her twin brother have had a hard life growing up. Their sick mom only got better when their grandfather showed up and made her, but when he passes away, it gets bad again. Mia is meek and silent, trying to appease everyone without really doing anything. Jamie, on the other hand, is growing more and more angry and wants his mom to sit up and take notice. He's mad that Mia doesn't understand and wants to show her that she can't always rely on him...after all, what if one day he isn't there anymore?

That's why when news hits that a gunman is in the school, Mia doesn't leave like the rest of her class. She starts to wondering: is that what Jamie was planning? Is this his way to show their mom that she needs to get better?

I love to read books that deal with school shootings because they are all different in how they approach the topic. This is the main reason why I wanted to read BANG, BANG, YOU'RE DEAD! The book is told in a back-and-forth pattern for most of the novel, with the present chapters showing Mia going through the school looking for the shooter who may or may not be her brother, Jamie. As for the other chapters, they are Mia's recollections of times that Jamie showed his anger and destructive behavior...which, all added up, give a lot of support to the idea that it really might be Jamie with the gun.

I really enjoyed the chapters that showed the past, because it allowed us a look into the things we weren't privy to when first starting the book. It gives us all an idea of who Mia and Jamie are and why they would want to cause a scene. It all basically leads to their mother, who is mentally ill but won't get the help she needs. Instead, she sways between depressing can't-get-out-of-bed days and manic let's-shop-for-things-we-can't-afford days.

This is a really fast book and I definitely enjoyed reading it. I should warn that some of the present chapters get a bit tedious, as you really just want Mia to figure out who the shooter is and what's happening or will happen after this.
Once the moment arrives, though, it's all worth it.

Believe me, this is one book that is sure to be a hit with a lot of people because it's not easy to figure out. You think you know what's going on, but in the end, do you really understand?
