Unique but not an easy read!
By BarbarinaS
The power of this author is the ability to seem original within a genre where it has all been done, and the ability to have the novel transcend from young adult reading to a more general audience. It is her skill that holds us and deserves the five star rating but in all honesty this is not always an easy read.
There are moments of confusion in the book due I think to the change of point of views that quite honestly are not necessary. Fallon and Autumn are hard to differentiate, they sound the same so the technique is not useful but at the same time it does point out how young they both are in their opinions and thoughts. The book then moves to third person and it does this as part of the plot but it is most confusing to follow, is it one of Autumn's visions, or is it the bad guys in discussion? I did follow but it distracted from the flow and often the book seemed a little disjointed.
However the novel grows on you as you head to the finish and the connection made is deep enough to want to continue to the next instalment. This is both a plot and a writer with blossoming maturity, a wonderfully creative imagination on display and a curious expression of thoughts on the world around us. These creatures are a reflection on our society and it implies there is a deeper insight here to be had. Perhaps this is why the book is also not necessarily an easy read, it adheres to a popular genre yet it offers so much more if you look a little closer.
I can't wait to read the next book but more I can't wait to see how Abigail Gibbs herself develops as she continues her path into world-building with a small unique flavour all her own. I think we have a very special manipulator of words in the making, a real writer in every sense of the word.

I Loved the Book!

Autumn Rose is the second Dark Heroine Novel and the sequel to Dinner With a Vampire. I have to say Autumn Rose is much more lighthearted read compared to Dinner With a Vampire with Violet Lee.
Autumn is like any normal teenager except she is a Sage duchess and has special powers. Autumn attends a normal school with humans and is the guardian of her school charged with protecting humans from the extermino. Of course nobody knows Autumn's true identity, as a duchy. Autumn leads a common life with an after school job, and is often bullied at school. After recent attacks Fallon(the lovely prince charming) enrolls at Autumns high school.
Autumn struggles with her beloved grandmother's death, which is an important element in the story, but secrets are revealed which causes Autumn to embrace her destiny.
I'm looking forward to the next Dark Heroine novel.

Not as good as the first to start with.
But as you get more engrossed in the story of the second heroine, you fall hook line and sinker - again!
Hurry up and write the third book in the All Souls Trilogy, ABIGAIL GIBS!
