Great reference

I like this book because the descriptions of each of the flowers give you all aspects of the benefits. The part I like most is the list of symptoms to show you need a certain flower and the explanation of what to expect behaviors or thoughts to be after healing takes place. It even gives you Supportive Measures... that's suggestions on what to avoid (horror films) and what to participate in (new hobbies). I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to make a difference in their family's and their own health.

A very well written book on the subject

I consider this book in the top three of the best books written on the Bach Flower Remedies. I have probably read it at least 100 times and I am always learning something new from it. It is a really well researched and well thought out book on the subject. Weather or not one uses the remedies one can learn a lot about human nature from this book. I very highly recommend it.

A well deserved reprint

This 418-page book collects the art theories and teachings of Don Graham, who was the art instructor for Disney. The book has been out of print for a long time so it's great that it's being reprinted.

There are 35 chapters talking about principles and approaches to creating art. The text is concise, and the principles taught are timeless. Each chapter covers from the basics and complex inner workings of great pictures.

These lessons are accompanied by hundreds of illustrated examples and paintings of great artists from different cultures and styles. Through these examples, you can see the principles as applied by various artists, and the common graphic elements and techniques used.

Basically, with this book, you understand why some pictures work, and why some don't. While watching animation on TV, you'll probably begin to see the reasons why scenes and characters are staged in a particular way.

This is an invaluable book for reference. Highly recommended to artists and animators.

If you are an artist this is indispensable for the library. Graham is a veteran and teaches the principles of composition to be applied to the static and moving image. This is a thick book with over 400 pages. The pages are laid out in an interesting way with about the bottom 1/3 containing the text, the top 2/3 containing the examples and illustrations. I like this format and it makes it easier to read. Highly recommended.

It is one of the few books that clearly explains what makes a composition work. I cant recommend it enough.

A Great commentary on the messianic prophecies of the OT

This is the best book there is on the subject of the messianic prophecies of the Hebrew Bible. Hengstenberg was a 19th century Lutheran scholar, and he writes with verve and with a passion for pietistic scholarship. With zeal and skill, he marches through the Hebrew Bible, dealing with the texts of Scripture that have traditionally been interpreted messianically by the Christian community. Some of his conclusions are surprising: That Numbers 24:17 is not messianic at all and that Psalm 45 refers to a polygamous wedding! But most of the time, his conclusions are solid and he does an admirable job of weighing the non messianic interpretations against the traditional ones.
Keep in mind that this book is actually an abridgment of an enormous 4 volume German work. It is very hard to find the original 4 volume English translation, and if you do, I'm sure that you would have to pay big bucks for it. This 715 page one volume translation will do just fine. I highly recommend it to Christians who want to know more about this subject.

Sam Ulano’s Approach to Getting Better and Reaching Goals

At the age of 80, I’ve finally decided to put on paper my concepts for living. This is something I’ve always wanted to do. Recently it came to me how I would do this: I would simply start writing and hope that, in the end, some of the knowledge I’ve gained in eight decades is of some value to you reading it.

All my life I’ve been a drummer, both student and educator. I somehow always had the ability to teach others. I also had the talent to demonstrate and explain to my students why and how the study material I developed could benefit them. This must have worked because so many people I taught are still playing and are in the music profession, where drum study was essential to them.

The following ideas are what I have found to have worked for me. I like to think of them as my ideas for living. I pass them on to you so you might make use of these concepts and have the use of my past experience. This doesn’t mean that they will work for you. But they might provide some direction that can help you. Although most of these concepts have been written about by others, maybe I can give you another slant on things.

With the possible exception of the first chapter on developing a system, this book doesn’t have to be read straight-through. Instead, see which topics are relevant to you and check out my experience with them. You never know when some outside mind may give you a new approach to how you can better yourself. Above all, keep in mind that this is a book about music—about life—as I see it from eight decades.

Study these ideas for living and try to apply them. If they work for you, then I’m glad to have helped. If they don’t, then keep searching and looking for what works for you. The key is to never stop learning!

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!

"It's never too late to start studying the piano or take up the drums", so says author Sam Ulano in this enthusiastic upbeat account of his life and his philosophy. A virtuoso drummer and brilliant entertainer, he writes the way he plays, with confidence and joy.Practice, organization, knowing what is important, being flexible, planning, focus, controlling anger, and some interesting keynotes about Buddy Rich and Artie Shaw are just a few of the items on Mr. Ulano's checklist. Most important, he adds, is to "never never quit".He's eighty and still going strong at the "Red Blazer" night club in New York City. A delightful book by an extraordinary musician.

Practical, solid advice

" I Love What I Do! A Drummer's Philosophy of Life at Eighty" is basically Sam Ulano's musings about life and the important lessons learned over the years. It is his system for personal happiness and reaching your goals. Much of the advice is pretty much common sense, but then again we all know that common sense often appears not to be very common at all. With that in mind, there is definitely a place for a book such as this.
It is not filled with the trite sayings and theoretical advice that is common to many such books, but has practical items that anyone can do. If other books give the goal with comments such as "to be happy you have to not be sad", then this one gives the steps.
Most of the advice is written from a musician perspective with items such as "Stay on Top of Your Practice", but still that can be applied to anyone engaged in activities that require skill. Some items are for encouragement (Don't Believe Those Who Aren't Tops in Their Fields) and others are real life (You'll Pay the Price Even If You Don't Pay the Price), but all are valuable if you can see how to apply them to your life and your needs.
Although not particularly organized well it is still a fine list of what is needed to be successful in life along with complete explanations of why each is important. If you didn't have a wise grandfather to turn to for advice when setting out on the road to life, take Sam Ulano along and learn from him some of the most important lessons in life.
